Contests

UkuleleSuperSocial.com Contest

How the Contest Works :

This video was Revised May 25th at 7:00 PM, Central.  It runs 6:24.

If you’ve had trouble getting the contest to work for you please watch this video.

I think, hopefully, this one will walk you through everything.

Once you got through it once or twice it will be very easy to do.

First Beta Contest

June 4th

Today is the last day of our contest.  It will actually run until Midnight tonight.

I had previously said noon.  The program said 11:59 PM so I was thinking next was 12:00 PM… noon… right?  Wrong.

So you will have the rest of the day to complete the contest action items and receive the points.

Today’s items are pretty self-explanatory except perhaps for the voting on the best instructional video of “I’m Yours.”

You’ll simply click on the link from the contest to the Gallery page and then click the heart at the bottom of the video which you think is the best instructional video.

We will have the drawing for the winners tomorrow at 8:00 PM Central time.

Here’s the link for the online meeting:

Zoom.us

See you at 8:00 tomorrow.

Thanks everyone,
Monte

June 3rd

We are repeating the action items from yesterday, basically because we are working with a small number of participants and we need more entries to truly test the concept I’m working on.

First, you can get 15 points AGAIN for posting on the “Best Way to Learn Ukulele” community blog post.  Read my replies to previous comments.   You’ll notice I have summarized the method in a way to put it into a classification.  Can you think of any other classifications of learning strategies or methods?

We also need more youtube submissions for the instructional videos of  “I’m Yours.”

Again, here’s the purpose of this.  Let’s suppose we decided we wanted to learn how to play “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.

Your first task is to go to the Gallery page and see which videos have already been posted.  There is a link in the Action item to take you to the Gallery page.  You may refer back to this link below later on to review the videos if you would like.

                              ( Gallery Page )

This is not a page on our Ukulele SuperSocial site. It is actually on a the Gleam site.

Your next task is to go to Youtube and choose an INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO that teaches how to play the song… NOT A COVER OF SOMEONE PLAYING THE SONG (choose one that has not already been posted… if possible)  If you can’t find one that hasn’t been used re-post one.

You’ll paste the URL into a space in a contest action item.

The next action item will send you to the Gallery page that will have everyone’s video posted.  You’ll watch at least one video.  The purpose is to evaluate all the videos.

Tomorrow we will vote on the video we think provides the best instruction for learning the song “I’m Yours.”

Eventually, the next step will be to record yourself performing the song, in this case “I’m Yours,”  upload it to Youtube and paste a link to it onto a Gallery page, just like you did the original instructional video.

We could even vote on who does the best job.

There’s a total of 42 points available today.

June 2nd

You can list one more strategy for learning how to play the ukulele to the blog post like you did yesterday.  See if you can think of one way that no one has listed yet.  Doesn’t have to be a way that you specifically practice.  The object is for us to list every possible strategy we could use to learn to play the uke.

Today we’re also trying something new.

Let’s suppose our objective this week was to learn the song “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.

Your first task is to go to the Gallery page and see which videos have already been posted.  There is a link in the Action item to take you to the Gallery page.  You may refer back to this link later on to review the videos if you would like.

                              ( Gallery Page )

This is not a page on our site. It is on a separate site.

Your next task is to go to Youtube and choose an instructional video that teaches how to play the song.  (choose one that has not already been posted… if possible)  You’ll paste the URL into a space in a contest action item.

The next action item will send you to the Gallery page that will have everyone’s video posted.  You’ll watch at least one video.

Tomorrow we will vote on the video we think is the best.

Eventually, the next step will be to record yourself performing the song, in this case “I’m Yours,”  upload it to Youtube and paste a link to it onto a Gallery page, just like you did the original instructional video.

We could even vote on who does the best job.

There’s a total of 42 points available today.

June 1st

I’ve added several new action items to the contest that started on May 30th.  You should notice that your points are cumulating  now.

I think we’ve done at least one of each of these action items.

May 3oth  and 31st

For the 31st watch the VERY IMPORTANT VIDEO.

Today you’ll watch a 2:36 video about the Friends Tab on your Profile page.

Next you’ll complete a very short survey

Then you’ll watch a 2:26 video about posting to Facebook from UkuleleSuperSocial.com

Next you’ll post a UkuleleSuperSocial.com blog post to a Facebook Page.

Be sure to paste the URL of your Facebook post into the next action item.
(if you don’t know how to do that there is a link to a 1:41 video that will show you how)

Do all the action items and receive the Bonus points.

Don’t forget the online conference tonight.  I’ll send you a link to get in this afternoon.

May 26th

Today’s topic is Your Personal Blog Page.

You’ll comment on a post, watch three short videos and write a blog post.

From now on each day’s contest will be active for two days so be sure you check back in regularly to complete the action items.

May 25th

Todays Topic is your Profile Page.

Some of you have already done this but you might benefit from watching the videos.  There might be info you didn’t pick up on.

If you have already uploaded your file that’s great.  Start the video and go get a cup of coffee.

The video lengths are:
1:01
1:33
2:35
:43

At this time, I’m going to ask that we don’t upload a Cover Image.  These images tend to be large files and I’m afraid they will slow down the site.

If you complete all five action items you will receive the bonus points which will double your total points.

May 24

Today we will focus on becoming familiar with the menus..

There are two menus and one set of tabs on the Profile page that facilitate navigation.

Go to the course pages and watch the videos.  The longest one is 3:42 long.

The survey will help us determine what we want to learn.

If  you complete everything you will qualify for the Bonus.

REMEMBER: There are only ten of you.  Most won’t do anything.  If you do everything your odds of winning will be very good.
